Keweenaw Tip Recreation Area
Call to Action

Help expand the Keweenaw Tip Recreation Area, now and for generations to come!

Right now you can help expand the Keweenaw Tip Recreation Area. KORC is asking everyone to help the DNR add 15,880 acres. Together we can make our collective voice loud and clear — let's improve and protect public access to the Keweenaw Tip for everyone, forever! Outdoor recreation and conservation is critical for our local economy, the land and waters of the Keweenaw, and the quality of life for residents and visitors.

We have already filled out and highlighted the important details in the Nomination Form and included maps. All you need to do now is follow two simple steps:

  1. Download the Nomination Form packet (, fill in your contact information, and sign. We recommend adding to or personalizing section #13. This is your chance to let the DNR know why you think these lands are important for the State to acquire and keep in the public trust, forever.

  2. Email the completed document to the DNR MNRTF administrators:

    Print, sign, and mail to:
    Grants Management
    Michigan Department of Natural Resources
    PO Box 30425
    Lansing, Ml 48909-7925

Nomination forms will be accepted until the end of March. Please share with your family and friends. We should know the outcome later this year and share updates as we learn them.

In addition to the Nomination Forms, we need to let our elected officials know how important this opportunity is for our local economy and quality of life. We are asking all KORC members to send letters to our elected officials. We have created several sample letters that you may customize and change as you wish:

You can send these letters directly via email or online form as well:

Non-Michigan Residents

Please feel encouraged to send in the Nomination Form and letters as well. Let these officials know why you choose to recreate in these incredible areas, and how your visits help support local organizations and businesses. Your participation is equally important alongside local and regional residents.
